Law Firm Files Federal Lawsuit Against Big Oil |
 |
Date: May 6, 2010
MIAMI, FL - Alters Law Firm, P.A. today announced the firm has filed a class
action complaint, in the Northern District of Florida Federal Court, against BP P.L.C., BP Products North
America, Inc., BP America, Inc., Transocean, LTD., Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling, Inc.,
Transocean Deepwater, Inc., Halliburton Energy Services, Inc., and Cameron International Corporation.
The lawsuit is on behalf of Water Street Seafood, Inc., Greg Abrams Seafood, Inc., Blue Parrot Oceanfront
Café, Inc., Tarpon Dock Seafood Market, G.A. Fish, Inc., WJ2 L.L.C., SGI Rentals, Inc., Steve Lima a/k/a
Captain Shelley Seafood, and John "Stan" Grant, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated.
Each plaintiff stands to be severely impacted or outright bankrupted by the catastrophic oil spill resulting
from the Deepwater Horizon incident. The likelihood of a timely clean up that could save the fishing
industry, commercial seafood industry, tourist-related places of business and those individuals who make
their livelihood from Florida's "Coastal Zone", seems impossible, as oil spills into the Gulf at more than
200,000 gallonsâperâday. The impact to Flor'idas coastal residents is yet to be determined. This crisis has
already shut down coastal fishing and cost the lives of at least 11 people.
âThis catastrophe could amount to the largest loss of business and marine life in this countryâs history,â
said Jeremy Alters, Alters Law Firm's founder and managing partner and plaintiff's attorney. "This disaster will be
felt for generations to come as we are only witnessing the preliminary fallout from the massive oil slick
and slow moving containment plan,â he continued.
Alters Law Firm brings more than 100 years of combined experience in
civil trial law and appellate practice to the high profile cases it selectively handles in Florida, the United
